Market vendors talking loud like shak shaks
“Come buy de food, herbs, spices and plants!”
Horns blowing, people shouting, wanting to pass through
“Move along quickly, ‘cause I got shopping to do.”
Onions, peppers and red tomatoes
Broccoli, cabbages and sweet potatoes
Limes, lemons and watermelons
Garlic, herbs and green bananas
I just like Rupee so ‘tempted to touch’
The firm texture of carrots, I love so much
The smooth feel of tomatoes, the rough of the pine’
Not soft and saggy like a pork chop in brine.
You can smell chicken wings frying deep golden brown
Baked pork and macaroni pie licking yuh down
Sweet bread, cassava pone big, fat and thick
Can’t wait to buy some and gobble it down quick
Fish cakes so hot me mouth catch a water
Pudding ’n souse hot, hot with scotch bonnet pepper
Drink milky snow cone to put out de fire
‘Cause what sweeten kiddy eye bun kiddy bumper
