1,2,3, jump in
I see a jumbie come and I lick him pon he skin!
4,5,6, turn round
I see a jumbie come and I holler till he run
7,8,9, and 10
I see a baby jumbie
And he crying for he mummee

Jumbie mother, Jumbie father, Jumbie brother, Jumbie sister
Ole Higue, Soucayant all come
Well I lick dem with me rhythm
I lick dem with me whip
If you want to conquer Jumbie
Then you have to learn to
SKIP!



About the Author

Maggie Harris, born in Guyana, has published five collections of poetry, a memoir, short stories, and recorded 2 CDs of performance poetry including Anansi meets Miss Muffet, for children.
